Train Vs. Car results in DWI Arrest

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised on October 18, 2020 at 02:13 a.m., Cass County Sheriff Office Deputies were dispatched to the area of Mahoney Road and 2 gates drive west of Louisville for a car vs. train accident. A green 1968 Mercury Cougar had became stuck on the tracks, and the train engineer stated the train collided with the car at about 40 miles per hour. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Deputies made contact with a William Hay age 55 of Louisville, Ne., the owner of the Mercury Cougar. Hay stated to the deputies he had high centered his vehicle on the railroad tracks, and had walked to the neighbors to get help. The Deputy determined William Hay's appeared to be intoxicated, and deputy performed road side sobriety test on Hay. Hay's failed all test and it was determined he was twice over the legal limit of .08. Hay was charged and lodged in the Cass County Correction Center in Plattsmouth, Ne and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
