Cass County Sheriff's Office Youth Academy
The Cass County Sheriff's Office Youth Academy is a program for high school students who may have an interest in Law Enforcement. The program introduces the students to fundamental Law Enforcement procedures including criminal and traffic law, search and seizure, report writing, crime scene investigations, traffic stops, defensive tactics, handcuffing, gun safety, building searches, CPR and first aid, shooting scenarios, and leadership qualities.
The Sheriff's Office started hosting an Explorers Post in 2013 and changed to the Youth Academy in 2019. Former students have gone on to the military, careers in Law Enforcement, federal internships, and correctional careers.
The Youth Academy meets weekly on Tuesday nights at 6:00 p.m. from September through February. Age requirements are 14-19.
