House Fire: Discovery of a Body

Sheriff Robert Sorenson advised in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 13, 2024, Ashland Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a house on fire on Fedde Ln. in the Horseshoe Lake community of rural Cass County. Upon arrival, emergency units encountered a fully engulfed structure fire, prompting the additional assistance of Murdock Fire for water and manpower support.
First responders discovered a body within the premises. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been confirmed.
In response to this tragic incident, a thorough investigation was initiated. The Cass County Sheriff's Office is actively working to identify the deceased, while the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the scene and determining the cause of the fire. An autopsy is currently pending.
